How Multi-Dimensional Are You?

Are some people over achievers?  I guess the answer is yes, but what if it's just your nature to be expansive?  What if your art business develops and as it does the skills you acquire allow you to diversify your business...does that sound interesting to you?

I had the opportunity to hear an interview with Michael Rieger.  Michael is a talented artist who has his hands in a lot of pots but seems to handle the juggling act rather well.  Trust me it takes discipline and focus to be able to keep all the plates in the air and Michael seems to excel at this task.

Michael has been a photographer for 17 years and he utilizes his eye for photography in interesting ways.  He's part of a team from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) that goes in a documents disasters with photography.  Many of the photos you may have seen following 9/11 were taken by a team of photographers from Colorado.  Michael has gone on to photograph the devastation in New Orleans after Katrina and numerous wildfires.  In fact, he's gone for training to become certified as a firefighter.

If that weren't enough he serves as the Art Director for the Larimer Arts Association, the host of the up and coming La Piazza 'del Arte where they close Larimer Square and create pastel chalk masterpieces.  It's a great event and showcases many talented artists in the region, many are sponsored to create these works by local businesses.  Michael has had the opportunity to network with many artists in the position furthering his own creative journey.

Let's take it one step further when we look at the family business.  Michael is the co-owner of Lapis Gallery where he and his brothers together create an enriching and diversified artistic statement.

As you acquire skills you can look for ways to build your business so that all the pieces are inter-related.  These relational qualities build a synergy in your business that will open doors, provide opportunities and best of all give you options for how best to achieve the level of success you desire.
