It's not what it seems
I saw it and I read the sign but I didn't believe it. I saw an exhibit of bronzes of dancing dogs. I saw the sign said bronze and yet I had to touch it because I truly believe the sculptures were stone. The patina was so good and carried through the collection that I found it hard for my hands to believe my eyes.
The sculptures are done by Laurel Peterson Gregory (www.laurelpetersongregory.com). She has different types of dogs in different types of dance poses so it's comical and yet the craftsmanship is superb. She had a piece of a group of dogs doing a kickline that I thought looked more amusing from the back where you saw all the tails then what you'd expect by looking at the front. She was open to exhibiting it in that manner, but the great things is that the piece was revolving so it could easily be shown in either direction.
It's one thing for the art to be good, but the subject matter is something that many of us, dog owners, can connect to. More importantly is the fashion in which Laurel treated us while we were in her booth. We got there before the show really started and she was setting up but she kept telling stories while staying in motion to set things up. I was welcomed and at no time felt like an imposition.
The pieces were a bit high priced for an outdoor show, but if she can get them then I say, go for it.
Made me laugh...
