Imprinting Success

Those of us who were not striving to be working artists from the start didn't originally think about exhibitions and shows and galleries.  Sometimes I wonder if things would have been different if I had been exposed to the world of professional art earlier or at least had explored my talent at an earlier age.  Obviously we can't go back and change the past but I can always wonder.

My sense of wonder really surfaced yesterday when I was walking through the mall and saw they had an art exhibit from some of the local schools.  I guess it's the equivalent to the choral groups I belonged to that had their fame at the mall, but since I didn't become a professional singer the analogy is kind of lost.  I was amazed at how talented some of these students are and wonder what their plans are for their artistic lives.  In fact there was one piece of apples that I thought was incredible and when I looked at the name tag it was done by a child in kindergarten.

I hope the families are making a big deal out of their child's exhibition.  I hope that it begins a lifelong dialogue about art and the importance of art in their lives.  I encourage the children to soak up all the glory and experience the joy of showing their work.

I think we can all take a lesson from these students...the importance of getting our work out into the world.  Does it matter where we show our art?  It shouldn't because as artists looking to gain exposure every new set of eyes is a potential buyer.

gotta go imprint...
