Planes, Trains and Automobiles...but What About Ships?

Trying to find new venues to sell your art can be exhausting.  We know that we can get places by taking planes, trains and automobiles all leading to destinations where art is sold, but what about ships.  Yes, that's right, ships!  I just got back from a cruise and believe it or not they have art auctions on cruise ships.  What's even more incredible is the number of people who attend the auctions and buy art on the ships.  It's like a gallery on the water.

I remember seeing this on the first cruise I took about four years ago but it left my consciousness, probably because of the disbelief factor.  I'm not sure if the fact that the sale is an auction is encouraging for potential buyers or the excitement of the auction process, but the art sells and they sell plenty.  Remember, if they didn't make money, they wouldn't do it!!!!!

Most of the art is prints so that the work is more affordable, but they do have a good assortment of originals.  The work is shown in the ships gallery throughout the cruise and they have preview days where the auctioneer gives the audience information.  On the last day the auction is held complete with complimentary champagne and they buy, buy, buy.  They will ship the work to your home, with a new frame...could it be any easier?

Add this to your list of potential resources and figure out a way to get your work on the high seas!

Cruisin'...
