HGTV Gives Denver Artist National Exposure
One of my New Year's Day traditions is to watch HGTV's show about the annual "Dream House". The "Dream House" is a home built, furnished and decorated that HGTV gives away at the end of the registration period. On New Year's Day they have a special and take you through the house. They discuss how the location was chosen, the rationale for the decor and an insider's view to their shopping trips. This year's home is in Winter Park, Colorado so it's no surprise that the shopping trips took place locally.
They were touring the house when the arrived in the home office and discussed the decorative accents. The planner of the home points to a painting and says that the painting is done by a Denver artist, Rodney Wallace. I don't know if you've ever seen Rodney's work but he shows in many galleries. To have his painting and name mentioned on a national television program is phenomenal. I always tell my clients that public relations is better than marketing because you pay for marketing and as we saw in this case the exposure was free.
The show will be aired several times in the month so Rodney will get his name out there a few more times. The bigger part of this is that he is now in the minds of the HGTV family of decorators, designers, architects and viewers.
What will you do to create a bigger presence for yourself? It's time to think public relations and not marketing!
Thrilled and excited for local exposure...
Greg
