Time to Plan
The new year comes with lots of pressure to make resolutions, update business plans and create new work...all in all it's an overwhelming time for many artists. I hope that as we begin the new year you'll chunk things down into smaller pieces to eliminate the overwhelm. The creation of art and the business of art should be enjoyable and fulfilling so when you make plans incorporate fun and creative activities to achieve the results you desire.
The one thing I do recommend is that you get organized in some fashion. Get a set of file folders for your office and a label maker and have fun. Create interesting categories, decorate the file folders and make a holding case for the folders...whatever will make it an enjoyable activity. The biggest thing to consider is what can you throw out. We have a limited amount of space in our heads, our homes and our studios so get rid of what you don't need. Make room for the new stuff you want to be the focus of your attention and your business.
Get support as you move forward with your plans so you know you're not alone. Isolation is the biggest factor in artrepreneurs putting their art in the closet because the loneliness is stifling. Make sure you meet with friends on a regular basis. Go to a few networking events to meet potential collecors. Find Your People!
I hope that 2007 brings you joy and prosperity!
In the spirit of the new year I wish you peace!
