It's all in the hanging!

Linda Witte Henke, a talented fiber artist, opened a solo exhibition of work in one of Centennial's libraries.  The show is well thought out and the hanging system used by the library is terrific.  Knowing the hanging system before installing is crucial to your success as an artist because every medium may have special requirements and if they can't be met the venue loses a show and you tarnish your reputation.

There are a number of pieces that I really love so here are just a few that I am taken with: "Magnificat", "Psalm 141:8", "Vessel", and "Verdigris".  When Linda curated her show she was very conscious about what would hang well together.  There is a clear and present cohesion amongst the work.  The work that doesn't fit with this group Linda made sure here portfolio was up to date and at the venue.  It gives you, the collector, the capacity to see the capacity of the artist, not just this one show.

Linda and her husband Phil (it always helps to have very supportive people in your corner) were gracious hosts throughout the evening.  If the artist is someone you know not only by name but you travel in the same circles the opening is a great way to reconnect with others or meet new people who have the same interests.

Please be conscious of how you hang your show.  Linda (www.lindahenke.com) did a great job and I'm proud to know her both as a person and an artist.

Standing in the beauty...
Greg
