New Twists on a Familiar Medium
When we think of a bronze sculpture we often think of that brassy color or maybe something with a patina that has a green tint. Would you ever think that a bronze sculpture can be vibrant and alive with color? If this isn't' part of your realm of reality then you need to see the work by Patricia "Tish" Romero at NEXT Gallery.
I had the opportunity to talk with Trish about her work and she told me that when she created the work she really wanted it to come alive with color. When she approached the patina artist she works with Trish was told that there are some new products on the market that will give the vibrancy to the piece Trish was looking for and she was right.
The body of work is a fluid expression of emotion firmly rooted in the spiritual genre. I love the curvature of the pieces; it creates a real sense of movement and that is accentuated by the bright colors. They hold a prominent place in the gallery sitting atop black pedestals. It's that kind of contrast that gives the art a place of prominence and they seem to float.
New twists keep me intrigued and I believe that's what sets Trish apart from other bronze artists.
Kudos...
