The city of Denver has been waiting for almost four years for the new addition to the art museum to become a reality.  Earlier this month the new addition opened and I decided to wait a week or two before trying to battle the crowds to get a peak at what lies beyond the doors.

The musuem is not only a place to house art, it is a work of art in and of itself.  The architecture is mesmerizing and for some causes a bit of vertigo.  The angles in the building draw your eye all around, including up to the ceiling.  It's impressive and really gives the city of Denver a star on the national map of art museums. 

The staff has done an incredible job of welcoming visitors to their new home.  The tours are informative and provide all the information you would need on both the architecture and the art.  They offer enough tours that you could spend the day taking all the tours you want and then at some point go back and examine the work that really catches your eye.

As an artist it's a treat to have a place to go and get inspired.  An annual membership is well worth the cost and is a great investment in you as an artist both creatively and in the business arena.  The restaurant in the museum has a number of very recognizable works by local artists, one more place in the city that exhibits local art. 

It's a gift to the city and I'm thrilled that the city makes the arts a priority.
