Every year artists in Boulder open their studios to the public.  You can purchase a calendar that has a map of all the artists included and over the course of two weekends you explore the hidden artist's sanctuary otherwise known as their studio.  This year over 140 artists participated in the two weekend event and that's a lot of art.  It's really become an annual pilgrimage for many who are waiting to see the work the artists have created over the past 12 months.

There is something magical that happens when you enter an artist's studio.  It's like their soul becomes transparent as you see not only the works they've completed but often works that are in progress.  They are present and having the ability to interact and ask questions is fabulous.  It really gives you a new perspective on the work having the information that lies beneath the work in front of you.

For many of the artists this is the largest financial happening of their year.  It's great giving so many people the opportunity to view and buy original art, from the artist...that's an event.  If you didn't make it this year keep your eyes and ears open for next year.  It's always the first two full weekends in October.
