Most of you are thinking that I've discovered some Avant Garde artist when I discuss the cutting edge.  In most cases that would be true, but this time I'm referring to the art by Pilar Heslin.  Pilar utilizes the scissor in many fashions and images creating an interesting body of work.  I love when something as ordinary as a pair of scissors are reinvented into something new and to top it all off, a work of art.

I like that Pilar has utilized different media to explore "the scissor" but I always have my favorites.  "Safety Scissors" is a mixed media piece that has a shadow box effect but is so much more.  "In the Tunnel" utilizes intaglio and embossing making this piece come to life.

Just wonder what ordinary items you can make extraordinary!
