Guts and Hopefully Glory
In an earlier article I introduced you to Kyle Goodrich, the geologist who left the world of formal science to pursue his art career. He told me about a project he was starting where he would create 30 paintings in 30 days and if I came to first Friday in October I'd see three pieces since he was starting on October 2. I showed up on first Friday and saw a sign in his studio that he was presenting this evening in a new location a couple of blocks away.
I arrived to fine that Kyle has kept to his word. The first three paintings are on display and he's realizing the challenges that come with this commitment both to himself and his public. The amazing thing about commitment is that we're not often commended for keeping them, but we're pulled through the mud for breaking them. That's a pressure that no one is really looking forward to but then again can you really have a big pay off without a big pay in?
You can follow Kyle's progress at www.30in30.org. He's got commentary and photos of the art. Keep your eyes and ear open for the announcement of his show spotlighting his 30 day journey in November.
I've got your back...

This 30in30 project has easily been the most difficult, terrifying, and rewarding event in my short career as an artist.
It has been extremely difficult to get myself into my studio everyday regardless of my desire to work. I appreciate yours and everyone else's support. I certainly couldn't be doing it without all the support I've received.
It has been a tremendously rewarding experience thus far. Everyday is a new day, and a new piece. It's like waking up with a fresh slate each morning. Regardless of my feelings towards the previous days piece, I have to move one and create.
Day 13 and still going...l
